A Detailed Itinerary of the 6 Days Congo Primate & Adventure Safari Tour

Day 1 of the 6 Days Congo Primate & Adventure Safari: Arrive in Rwanda – Kigali International Airport & transfer to the Hotel

Arrive in Rwanda – Kigali International Airport & transfer to Goma Congo. Enjoy the views of the Rwandan hillsides and Lake Kivu.

Day 2 of the 6 Days Congo Primate & Adventure Safari: Do Mountain Gorilla trekking in Virunga National Park & relax at the lodge. Visit Senkwenkwe Orphanage

Settle for breakfast and transfer at 7:00am by Virunga NP driver to Bukima station for briefing about the Gorilla trek starting at 8am. From briefing, you head to the forest in the company of armed park ranger guides in search of the Mountain Gorillas that are known to be critically endangered world over.  The gorilla trek lasts 2 – 8 hours but one full hour of actual gorilla viewing experience, exploring them as they forage and socialize while taking great photos.  Relax at the lodge and later visit the Senkwenkwe Orphanage close to the lodge

Day 3 of the 6 Days Congo Primate & Adventure Safari: Adventure hike to Nyiragongo Volcano

Transfer at 7:00am to Kibati Patrol post by Virunga NP Vehicle to start the adventure hike to Nyiragongo Volcano at 9am.  It a once in a lifetime adventure hike to the world’s largest and most violent lava lake and lasts for 4 – 6 hours traversing both gentle and steep ascend.   You enjoy incredible scenic sights of the surrounding volcanic mountains and the jungle of Congo below.  After the dark, the sight of the red lava lake is the highlight of this adventure and presents an opportunity for lasting photoshoots.

Day 4 of the 6 Days Congo Primate & Adventure Safari: Descend Nyiragongo Volcano, transfer to the harbour & speed boat to Bukavu

In the morning, start descending the volcano and transfer to Goma where you will reach around 12:00am.   The Park vehicle will drop you off at the harbor to catch up with the Speed boat transfer to Bukavu.  You will be met by our representative at Bukavu beach and transfer to the Hotel for relaxation, dinner and overnight.

Day 5 of the 6 Days Congo Primate & Adventure Safari: Do Eastern Lowland Gorilla trekking in Kahuzi Biega National Park & relax at the lodge

After breakfast, depart at 7am and embark on a historical adventure of tracking the Lowland gorillas thriving in Kahuzi Biega National Park.  The Lowland gorilla trek is very interesting as it presents an opportunity to explore these species that are different from the common Mountain Gorillas. The Low land gorillas are remarkably larger in size and prefer to stay in bigger groups. The trek to these species lasts about 1 – 4 hours. Retreat back to the hotel for relaxation, dinner and overnight. Private transfer to & from Gorilla trekking.

Day 6 of the 6 Days Congo Primate & Adventure Safari: Transfer back to Kigali via Ruzizi 1.

After breakfast, transfer back to Kigali via Ruzizi border 1 driving through the impressive landscapes of southern Rwanda before arriving in Kigali in the evening to mark the end of the safari.
